Pharmacy Technician (Contract)
The Pharmacy Technician supports the Principal Pharmacist in medication preparation and dispensing, drug supply and distribution, compounding, inventory management and day-to-day pharmacy operations, ensuring safe and efficient delivery of pharmacy services.
Responsibilities
Process prescriptions and medication orders, and prepare and dispense medications under the supervision of the pharmacist.
Provide patient counselling and education, and perform medication reconciliation as required.
Pack, label and distribute medications, ensuring proper storage, handling and supply of pharmaceutical products.
Monitor inventory levels, expiry dates and stock records, including stock takes, cycle counts and product recalls.
Prepare sterile and non-sterile compounded products under pharmacist supervision, ensuring compliance with established quality, safety and labelling requirements.
Maintain accurate pharmacy records, equipment and automation processes, and promptly report dispensing errors, near misses or equipment issues.
Participate in staff orientation, continuing education, medication safety and quality improvement initiatives.
Support the implementation of pharmacy policies, procedures and workflow improvements to enhance service quality and patient safety.
Requirements
Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science, Certificate in Pharmacy Technician Course or equivalent qualification.
At least 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in a pharmacy or healthcare setting.
Good patient service, communication and interpersonal skills.
Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, with a positive and responsible approach to work.
